SPECIAL REPORT:  November 7, 2006 General Election Run-Down

California Statewide and Congressional Vote Results

Statewide Races

Congressional Races

Below are the nearly final voting results from the general election contest held Tuesday, November 7, 2006. In Congress, it appears that California reelected Senator Dianne Feinstein and 51 of the 52 Congressional incumbents running for another term. In the state’s 11th district, Democrat Jerry McNerney appears to have waged a successful campaign to represent the area near Stockton. And in the 22nd district, Republican Kevin McCarthy will replace Bill Thomas in the seat that includes Bakersfield and much of Kern County. We congratulate the state’s new and returning elected officials.

Presented first below are results of statewide races, followed by returns for each California Congressional district. These results are as of Nov 8, 2006 at 8:33 am Eastern (5:33 am Pacific) when 97.9% (24565 of 25090) precincts were reporting, according to the California Secretary of State’s office. Asterisks (*) denote incumbents. For more recent numbers, as well as for results from yesterday’s 100 State Legislative races, visit http://vote.ss.ca.gov .
